Unidentified references (UA1-UA50)
See also Unidentified References (U1-U27)
This list, taken from Welsh/Joosten 1998, contains 50 works by Piet Mondrian that cannot be identified with certainty. The authors found the references in exhibition catalogues published between 1888 and 1922. The works are numbered in chronological order and have an individual oeuvre catalogue number preceded by the letters UA: Unidentified with the addition of A referring to Mondrian’s early work up to 1911.
Aside from the title given in the exhibition catalogue, Welsh and Joosten knew of no additional information and the works could not be identified. In some cases, Welsh referred in the oeuvre catalogue to a conceivable candidate as ‘possibly identifiable as’ with a link to the artwork concerned 1 [For example, https://rkd.nl/images/277212].
